Rillfall: what happens when the leaf shield runs out

Easy mode gives your raindrop a leaf shield, not a safe place to keep bouncing. See the warning, the next briar landing and what Try again resets.

The Leaf shield spent message above a blue raindrop rebounding from a red, thorn-covered segment between green platforms.
The shield has absorbed this briar landing. The red segment is still there beneath the drop.

Leaf shield spent means the shield has just saved your drop, not that the briars beneath it have become safe. In Rillfall, an Easy run can survive one ordinary briar landing, then end on the next bounce if you leave the same hazard underneath the drop.

Rillfall is our tower-drop arcade game. This example follows Easy, tower 1, First Drizzle. It shows why surviving a hit and finding a safe landing are different things.

Check for Shield 1

Start First Drizzle on Easy and look below the progress bar. Shield 1 means you have a shield available. The drop also has a green glow around it.

The start of Easy First Drizzle shows score 0 and a green Shield 1 indicator below the progress bar.

Drag sideways to rotate the tower underneath the bouncing drop. Bring a wide gap around to descend; the narrow seams between solid segments are not gaps. If that first turn is still unclear, the first-drop guide walks through it before any briars enter the example.

A saved landing leaves the briars in place

The red segments with dark thorns are briars. In the pictured run, the drop reached one with its shield still available. It bounced instead of ending the run, and Leaf shield spent appeared above it. The shield indicator disappeared.

Look at the hero image: the drop is above the red wedge, but that wedge has not broken or turned green. Keeping this tower angle brings the drop back toward the hazard. Releasing a mouse drag or lifting your finger does not stop the bounce.

The next landing in this run ended at ring 8 of 30, with 12 points shown. There was no second shield to absorb it.

Caught in the briars result card with 12 points, ring 8 of 30, and Try again and Menu buttons.
The result after another landing on the same briars. The card also explains that scores count only when a tower is cleared.

This was an ordinary rebound, not a charged Downpour smashing through a ring. The useful warning is the spent-shield message: don’t mistake that bounce for proof that red is safe. Turn toward a green platform or an opening rather than relying on another protected landing.

Try again starts a new attempt

Choose Try again on the result card. In this First Drizzle example, it returned to the opening ring with 0 points and Shield 1 restored. It did not resume at ring 8.

For the next attempt, watch the landing surface as well as the gap you are aiming for. The shield gives you room for a mistake; the spent message tells you that protection has been used.
